Fox Valley Sail & Power Squadron

Commander's Welcoming Letter

Welcome to the United States Sail & Power Squadrons.  We are the world’s largest private boating organization.  USPS is a non-profit, non-governmental, and non-military organization of people with similar social interests and who share a common love and appreciation of recreational boating.  There are about 35,000 members in 450 squadrons in the U.S., Puerto Rico, Virgin Islands, and Japan.

The three basic aspects to our organization are education, civic, and social.  The educational side includes five “Advanced Grades” and six “Elective Courses” that are taught by our members.  Our classes are envied and admired by the boating community.  The civic side of our mission is demonstrated in the number of quality Boating Courses offered to the public.  We also reach the public through information provided at Boat Shows and the participation we have during National Safe Boating Week.  Our social activities include several cruises from June through October.  We have dinner meetings from September through May.  Many dinner meetings may have a speaker about boating related topics.

Fox Valley is a member of District 20, which covers an area from Southern Wisconsin down to Central Illinois and from Northwestern Indiana to far Western Illinois. There are 18 squadrons within this District and depending on where you live or boat you are welcome to join the squadron that fits you the best.  Give us a try and come to a dinner meeting, a social, or an "on the water" event!  If you do not have a boat available in a particular area there is always room on someone else’s boat.

If you should have any other questions or would like more information on USPS or Fox Valley, please do not hesitate to contact me or any of the Bridge Officers.

Sincerely,

Mary Merrell, SN

Commander
